Egodi Uchendu, Ph.D., Professor of History & International Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka

Egodi Uchendu, Ph.D. is a Professor of History and International Studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In addition to  being the President of the African Humanities Research & Development Circle (AHRDC), an institution-based research group, now metamorphosing into an academic association, Prof. Uchendu coordinates the Don’t Litter Initiative (#DLI) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. #DLI is a community-based, environmental-friendly project of AHRDC. It creates awareness within the university, among members and users of the institution, on responsible and sustainable waste management habits. Prof. Uchendu has taught at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka for 25 years. She was the first female Head of her Department (2012-2013) and served as the Director of the Centre for Policy Studies and Research (2019-2021). In the course of her career, she has written 3 books, edited 9, and has additional 62 other publications. These works benefitted from a range of fellowships and international grants from many foundations such as the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the Fulbright Commission, Leventis Foundation, and CODESRIA. When Prof. Uchendu is not teaching or researching, she is on her farm. Chukwuemeka Agbo, Ph.D., Department of History, The University of Texas at Austin

Chukwuemeka Agbo, Ph.D. holds a Doctorate degree from The University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on understanding the global politics of labor mobilization in Eastern Nigeria in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. His broad thematic areas of interest include colonialism, religious conversions, culture, workers’ rights and struggles, global labor politics, conflict situations, the Atlantic world, and the African diaspora. His published works have appeared in The Routledge Handbook to Religion and Political Parties (2019); Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Politics (2019); The Palgrave Handbook of African Colonial and Postcolonial History (2018); and the Journal of Third World Studies (2015), among others. Dr. Agbo teaches history at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Nigeria. He is the Vice President for Research and Publications of the African Humanities Research and Development Circle (AHRDC), and the Managing Editor of the Journal of African Humanities and Research Development (JAHRD), AHRDC’s flagship journal.
